During the 13th Century Nuremberg was one of Europe’s greatest trade routes.
Nuremberg was destroyed in a 90 minute air raid by the Allies which leveled the city almost 100 percent. Hitler choose Nuremberg for the site of his annual parade grounds and the Nazi Party rallies.
Today this city has a population of 500,00 people and is known for it’s trade fairs and Christmas Market.
The World War II starts with a bus ride from Roth, Germany. You will see Parade Grounds, Zeppelin Field, and the Colosseum.
You will join the bus for a tour Nuremberg City on the way to the Palace of Justice and Courtroom 600.
On your drive from the Palace of Justice to the Market Square you will pass an above ground cemetery. Take a look at the above ground crypts and all the flowers.
You will then drive to the Market Square to enjoy some free time. If you are on a Sunday Tour Nuremberg has Blue Laws and very little is open. Market Square has a beautiful fountain, one or two shops open, and an ice cream parlor. Explore before you board the bus to return to your ship.
Note: Over 50 years ago, I spent one day in Nuremberg around Christmastime. I toured Courtroom 600 and in the courtyard of the Palace of Justice a Christmas Market was set up. I still have the Christmas coffee cups I purchased for one mark which back then was .25 USD.
