Regensburg is located at 2380 Km on the Danube River. This is the northern most city on the Danube River. This city was settled by the Celts in 500 BC and then came the Romans The town center is one square mile. Your ship should arrive around 12:30 PM and stay until around 7:00 PM. The ship will be docked beside the walking/bike path along the river to the Sausage Factory.

- ” Unesco City Walking Tour” which lasts 1 and 1/2 hours where you will see the Old Town Hall, Stone Bridge, Sausage Kitchen, Old City Hall and Regensburg Cathedral.
- “Walhalla Bike Tour” which lasts 3 hours and is a level 4 activity biking 20 Km of the Danube Valley to Walhalla Temple. Which was commissioned by King Ludwig I to honor famous Germans. The walls are Roman. The Temple honors Albert Einstein, Immanuel Kant and Johannes Brahms to name some.
- “Tastes of Barvaria” is a two hour walking with a difficulty of walking 1-2. You will be tasting bratwurst, dark German Beer and a fresh baked pretzel. You will visit the Wurst Kuchl (Sausage Kitchen).
Regensburg is a preserved Medieval City on the Danube River. This area was not bombed during World War II and remains intact today. The streets are narrow passageways with quaint squares. The high Gothic Cathedral with it’s tall spires dominate the city. This city has 150,000 inhabitants within it’s cobblestone streets.
The oldest restaurant is the Sausage House which stands next to the Old Stone Bridge. The Old Stone Bridge was built in the 12th Century and the Wurst Kuchl or Sausage Factory feed the builders dating from 1135. Today this 900 year old building which is still operational will feed you. You can only get sausage, sauerkraut and mustard with beer. Make sure you stop here and try it all!
Regensburg is known for it’s lap tops, lederhosen, Christmas stores, cafes, beer houses, Across from the Cathedral is a very special shop called the “King of Hats”. This hatmaker is Europe’s Mastercraftman with some famous customers but the prices are reasonable. Nearby is a Lederhosen Shop. The Drubba Christmas Shop is across from the Sausage Factory and sells Cockoo Clocks from the Black Forest.
The Messerschsmitt Aircraft factory and the oil refineries are located here. It is surprising that it was not bombed. BMW factory and the University are Regensburg’s largest employers. Oskar Schindler also resided here and Pop Benedict XVI lived here.
Find an outside beer garden and enjoy a beer in a special stein. There is a very good spot outside the Cathedral in the center of town. Check out this area.
