Tours By Locals with Hugh O.

Our Tour of Stirling Castle and the Highlands started from our hotel when our driver Hugh O. picked us up for our 8 hour day.  While driving to Stirling Castle we passed our first Kelties of the day.  We toured Stirling castle and then Hugh O. took us to the Bridge over the river which was where Braveheart was supposed to happened.   Lades Inn provided us with a wonderful Scottish lunch and refreshments before our ride up into the Highlands.  We passed our second set of Kelties outside the Vilage of Luss on Loch Lomond.  Our ride back was straight through to Edinbaugh and our hotel.

Kelties

While travelling to Stirling Castle on the highway we passed our first Kelties.  Let me tell you they are a sight to behold and very beautiful.  It doesn’t matter if you pass them in the day or the night because they are all lit up and huge.

Stirling Castle

On the lower level road we passed though the town that serviced Stirling Castle to reach the top of the old Volcanic Hill.  The castle is located high up and has fantastic views of the countryside.  You can tell just about how difficult it would have been to attack the castle.   Our guide Hugh O. is a Blue Badge Guide in Scotland which means we had a very private tour of the castle and grounds.   It was a pleasure to not be part of the large groups touring the castle that day.  Hugh O.was there to personally answer all our questions.   This is one of the reasons a private tour with Blue Badge Guide is the best!

Lades Inn

Once we were driving in the countryside on our way to the Highlands we stopped at a delightful inn called Lade Inn for a hearty Scottish meal.  The Inn is located Kilmahog Callender, Pershire FK17 8HN.  We highly recommend this location for a wonderful selection of Scottish Foods and Beers.   Hugh O. picked exactly the type of restaurant we asked for.  This stop was one of our highlights of our day.

Highlands

Our car and driver took us high into the Highlands and the drizzle, fog, and some sunshine just added to the experience allowing us to see how beautiful this area of Scotland is.
