Barcelona Shore Trips

The website for Shore Trips is www.shoretrips.com.  In Barcelona, Shore Trips offers Airport and Cruise pickup transfers, hotel packages, shared Shore Trips, Cultural Tours, private and personal tours and Flamingo Dinner Shows.  My family choose two tours in the same day.  We had very limited time and wanted to enjoy Barcelona to its fullest.

Private and Personal Tour of Barcelona

Both tours were operated by Spanish Trails Adventures for Shore Trips.

The family booked a full day private and personal  tour of the city.  There were five of us and my son is an architect,  so we were very interested in Gaudi and city architecture.  Our driver and guide both spoke excellent English.  Our guide had an architectural background, so the entire tour was based on architecture which was what we asked for.  Locations were pre-picked and paid for in advance which allowed us no wait times.  Our tour began at Casa Batllo after being left at the front door.  Because of my age and medical problems out guide made arrangements for me to take the elevator to the top to meet the rest of my family.  We all walked down and she explained the entire stucture to us.  After a water and snack stop we went to Park Guell.  Our driver parked at the top of Park Guell which has a private entrance and allowed us to walk down the park.   At the bottom of the Park Guell we found our driver waiting for us.   We then drove along the waterfront she explained all the work the City of Barcelona did to make the waterfront usable.  The beach is very large and extends for miles.  The fishing village with shops and Aquarium are located here.  Our entrance to La Sagrada Famila was a separate entrance.  We started in the basement with all the architectural drawings and models were located.  Then upstairs to see the actual La Sagrada Famila.  Upon leaving our driver picked us up at the front door.  We then drove though the city to Montjunc for views of the city from above, Olympic Stadium and the Art Museums.   We were  dropped off at our hotel with two hours to get ready for our second tour of the day.  We all felt that our one day tour covered the maximum that could be packed into one day.  This tour company is the best.

Private and Person Tours include pickup and drop off at your hotel.  Suggested places to visit are Cathederal, Gaudi La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi Park Guell, Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, views from Montjunc Hill and the La Rambles.  You may pre choose what you want to see.  The tour will be designed for your tastes.   This tour is available for 2 to 7 people and comes with an English speaking driver and guide.  You will never be left alone as the guide stays with you the whole time.  You may spend as much or as little time as you desire at the location.  Not included are food, drinks, admissions (unless pre-paid) and gratuities.

A Tapas Cornacopia

For our second tour we took a cab to the meeting spot for the start of our tour.  This tour is a walking tour through Raval, L’Eixmple, and Born sections of Barcelona.  We made six stops for tapas and drinks.   After the third stop I was unable to walk and our guide ordered me taxi’s with directions to the next stop.  Our four hour tour lasted around 5 hours and was a night to not forget.  At every stop we had the local tapas and drink.  While walking through the city we had cultural tours.  This was the first time I was inside a walled city within a city.  The streets were very narrow and cobble stone.  There were even streets that cars were not allowed.  Barcelona is a very friendly city and we met so many local folks and felt perfectly safe and enjoyed all our conversations, tapas and drink.  Skip dinner if you are taking this tour.  You’ll have so much to eat and drink and it is all wonderful and delicious.
