Ponta Delgada, Azores
Ponta Delgado, in the Azores, has so much to see and do. From the sail in, to the sail out, it is a very different port. When the ship is docking, you will see a cement viewing stand. From here, you can climb up, to view any ship in port or any sailing in or out. There is a hotel along the water front that has a swimming pool built into the ocean that has lanes for swimming. The local yacht club, has many boats anchored, making this is a good place to have binoculars.
Tour Buses will take you to the Cha Gorreanna Green Peaks and Black Tea Plantation where you can sample and purchase tea. Then, it’s on to the colorful village of Riberra Grande ( Built into the side of a hill sloping down to the ocean ). You will visit the Fumeole Holes, and see how a meal can be cooked in the hole. Afterwards, you’ll continue to Furnas Village, and partake in a meal cooked in this manner. Your bus will take you to the Cozido Das Calderras which has a viewing area of the volcano which is now a lake. The water’s shade of green and blue are spectacular when the sun comes out.
