The family and I have sailed on Disney’s Magic five times.  One trip was the Transatlantic crossing from Port Canaveral to Barcelona and we also sailed from Barcelona to NYC on our second Transatlantic 8 years later. Our next group of sailings included  a special two night sail out of NYC to No Where, then NYC to Canada and lastly NYC to Bahamas.  These pictures represent reflections from all five cruises.  Toddy and MJ have travelled on the some of the sailings.  Our photographers were my son and my husband.   Most of the pictures of children are family members or friends travelling with us.  We all wanted you to see how much fun the children are having on the Disney Cruise never mind the parents and grandparents.

My grandson has taken most of the cruises with us and a few more cruises with his parents alone.   He started at age 4 on his first Transatlantic and age 13 on his last Transatlantic.    The first Transatlantic was a 14 night sailing.  We hardly saw him during the cruise because he was having fun within the club house.  Who can compete with dinner with Mickey Mouse?   On the last night of the cruise as the Disney Club was closing, we took him out screaming, “I have not been on this ship for 14 nights and I’m not leaving”.  I’m sorry,   I don’t have any photographs of the club houses but they are fantastic with all different clubs for all ages of children.

The men in our family dress in kilts for the formal nights on the ship.  My grandson was four when he wore his first kilt on formal night.   As we came out of the toy store we bumped into Don “Ducky” Williams also in his kilt.   “Ducky”  spent a lot of time talking with my grandson and asked us to wait outside the toy store for him.  We waited and he came out with  a sketch pad and crayons.  “Ducky” then drew a picture of Mickey Mouse and autographed it for my grandson.  We still have that drawing today.  On the second Transatlantic cruise.  we  met “Ducky” again.  We had a little reunion on that formal night when the boys were all in their kilts.   Later, we attended one of “Ducky’s”  art studios and my grandson won a “Ducky” drawing of Alice In Wonderland.   You will find pictures of “Ducky” doing the art studio and then signing autographs.  Every cabin got a lithograph of Remy.   “Ducky” made arrangements to hand autograph everyone’s lithograph.  After, all he was the cartoonist who created Remy as well as a few other characters.

The architecture of the Magic is a replica of a 1930’s cruise ship but with all modern features.  This ship has all different kinds of woods, large round port holes, grand staircases, crystal, multiple forms of original art work which are located though out the ship.  Nothing but the best materials are used on the Magic.  In fact I’ve devoted a whole sections to the ships architecture and works of art.

The show theatre is in the Walt Disney theatre.  Special shows are held here nightly.  The shows are appropriate for all ages.  Even the babies love it for the color, movement, and music.  Children and adults are entertained during all the shows.  Please note that all of the photographs taken in the theater were taken by a photographer with a high end camera and NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY was used.

All the dining rooms are on the rotating dining room schedule.  You move from one restaurant to another but keep your table and servers.  There are three main restaurants serving dinner.    You will see samples of the dining rooms, food, but pay attention to the faces on the children.  They are entertained all the way from beginning to end of dinner.  The wait staff  on all Disney cruises are very skilled in helping and entertaining children though out the dinner experience.

The Buena Vista theatre shows first run movies all day long and is a actual movie theater equipped with popcorn and candy.  On most cruises they will show first runs before they release it to the theaters at home.  We have seen so many new releases this way.  The cruise is my way of catching up on Disney movies.

The Goofy pool has a second movie screen, which shows Disney cartoons all day long.  You can always watch a good movie on deck….. or for that matte, in the pool.

The Mickey pool is for small children to get wet and enjoy themselves.

The Quiet Pool is an adult haven, there are no children allowed.  This is a place for the adults to rest and relax.  It is quiet and peaceful.

As with most cruises events are held all over the ship.

Disney Cruise ships have metal doors, so guests have started a tradition has them.  Guests can decorate their door with Disney magnets representing the places they have sailed, or the locations they have visited.  It is an event to walk around the ship looking at doors especially on the next to last day of the cruise.

There is also a group called the fish extenders which you can find on the Disney Web page.  Small groups of around 10 sign up to leave the other cabins little gifts. The small gifts are put in the fish extender’s   hanging on the doors.  Some groups are for passengers with children and other groups are adults only.   Needless to say the cabin doors grow with each cruise.  You will see pictures of the doors.

Ports of Call are in another sections with lots of photographs of the different places we have sailed on the Disney Magic.  In the New York City section which we usually sailed in and out of on the cruise ship.  Please note that the photographs cover a number of years and different sailings.  We were lucky enough to board the Magic in NYC the day after the Space Shuttle was delivered to the Intrepid.  Enjoy the pictures before they covered the Space Shuttle with the white tent.  Also note the different phases of the Freedom Tower construction as the years went by.

At first when you look at the pricing of the Disney Cruise you may have sticker shock!  I promise you will disembark the ship knowing you got your full monies worth and at such a reasonable price.  Disney tends to include just about everything in it’s initial pricing.  Even the shows are Broadway Style and very professional.  Other than the nursery you will pay nothing for the club houses which seem to be open for forever.  There is a soda station near the pool with soda at no charge.  You will pay for alcholic beverages, spa treatments, bingo, arcade and gifts purchased in the shops.

Disney Magic is truly Tripping In Style.  I even book a small cabin with a verrandah instead of a suite on the Magic.   It doesn’t matter if you are a baby, child, teen, single adult, married adult or grandparents you will enjoy the cruise.  If anyone had ever told me, I would take a cruise with no casino, I would have laughed at them.  There is no time for a casino on this cruise.   I would take this cruise even if I had no children or grand children with me.
