NCL Breakaway Haven with MJ
MJ and Toddy the Stowaways
For around 30 years MJ has travelled on vacation with us and this cruise was no exception. On this trip he took his friend Toddy and taught him the ropes. We don’t know how MJ and Toddy got in the carry on and how they packed their clothes but they did….
MJ’s first view of the vacation was in the Haven waiting lounge before we boarded the Breakaway. He popped out for a quick view of what kind of vacation this was going to be.
Once he made it onto the ship he came out of carry on and unpacked and got ready for his week of adventures. Looking out the balcony porthole at the navy ship was fun and he enjoyed having his photo taken with the New York sky line in the back ground.

The first thing to check out was the life boats and where they were in relationship to cabin. Then wave goodbye to New York City hoping to make the ship sail out of the slippage. When that didn’t work he started asking “Have we left yet”? Finally he made it onto a relaxing lounge chair in the Haven and his vacation could start. Toddy wasn’t coming out of the carry on until MJ checked everything out.
A comfortable bed was made on the shelf under the porthole window but still no Toddy. The next day Toddy joined MJ relaxing by the porthole. It was still a little chilly so MJ put on his leather jacket for warmth especially on the balcony.
They enjoyed being out to sea by sitting on a towel by the porthole window and were soon joined by elephant towel animal. There was room for all.
MJ left to check out the lounge chairs in the Haven area to see how comfortable they actually were. He left the inside Haven pool area for the outside Haven Sun Deck as the ship sailed into Port Carnaveral. The sun finally made an appearance as the ship pulled into port and MJ took a nap on the deck chair.
In the afternoon MJ took a walk on the Waterfront and wanted a Gelato but couldn’t get the gelato stand to open. Maybe tomorrow he would let Toddy out of the cabin and they would both get a gelato.
MJ finally headed back to the cabin and decided to be on the balcony and see the sights of the port. The ship sailed out and headed for Nassau so he continued to enjoy the porthole with the ocean views until it got dark.
Next morning called for a coffee from the coffee maker before heading to the Haven Sun Deck for a rum drink and relaxing in the sun and watching the world of boats go by. Late in the afternoon he joined Toddy, elephant and a new friend penguin on the shelf to watch the sail out of Nassau. All the animals were discussing how wonderful dinner would be in Ocean Blue.
On the next day out to sea MJ got another coffee, some champagne and finally some chocolates. Chocolates are his big weakness. He did not even share them with Toddy.
Sailing along at night was fun until MJ saw the NY skyline and knew that vacation was almost over. Toddy was packed back into the carry on. MJ changed into his Christmas sweater and continued to watch the sail back into home port. He watched the dock staff tie the ship to the slippage and get ready to disembark all the paying passengers as well as the stowaways.
Oh well, maybe next time he would take Toddy again and let Toddy enjoy more of the ship now that Toddy had more experience sailing on a big ship. As long as the NCL will let them stowaway he’ll be there!
MJ and Toddy are currently making plans to sail on the Bliss in April 2018 on the Transatlantic Crossing.
