For the “Puszta Tour” with Ama Waterways you are taken to the the Maygar Horse Farm about an hour outside of Budapest. After checking your luggage in the lobby you will be boarding a very comfortable bus for your tour.
Your first view of the Horse Farm is spectacular. You will be greeted by the Maygar Horsemen and horses and given a schnapps to quinch your thirst. The bus will be divided into 3 groups. One will be a carriage ride through the estate. Two will be Horse Show. Three will be the tour of the barns and lunch.
For the carriage ride you will be driven by the Maygar and their horses in a horse carriage through the estate with a view of their farmlands and animals. At the end of the carriage ride we watched a horse round-up.
A short walk over the the Stadium which provides seating for the horse show. The horses and the horsemen have won may awards. You will see the Maygar standing on a team of horses, a horse laying down on command and playing dead, a horse sitting, a child learning to drive a carriage, a donkey pretending to be a horse and duplicating the horse’s tricks and finally an ox drawn carriage.
After the horse show you will be shown the barns and then taken to lunch. Entertainment will be with a Hungarian band. Lunch is served family style with Hungarian Goulash, salad, pork cutlets and veggies along with desert. After lunch there is a small gift shop where you can purchase Hungarian products. Yes, they have paprika both sweet and hot. On the way back to your bus the professional pictures which were taken though out the tour will be available for purchase along with some magnets. It will then be time to board the bus for transport to the Ama Viola.
