If you come off the canal boats turn left and look left across the plaza and you will see the restaurant. Take the small steps down and enter another world. This restaurant is in the Castle Basement and was founded by the Kirk family in 1797. This restaurant has many regulars and all the tables were marked reserved but you will be approached and offered a table. Order some drinks (beer, wine, etc.) and then you will be invited up to the smorgesbord table to pick out your lunch. The Danish Sandwich selections will be herring, liver, pastry, lamb rolls, sausage, salt beef, or chicken salad. You will have the ablity to pick and choose which open sandwich you desire. After you choose the kitchen will make up your requested sandwich. While waiting for your lunch your server may come over and offer you some Mandirian schnapps. The glass will be poured to the top and you will be advised that it is so full because it is Danish custom to kiss the glass. Go ahead and kiss it! Chocolate and almond deserts are offered.
