Saybrook Point Inn and Spa 2018

Saybrook Point Inn and Spa is located at Two Bridge Street, Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The website is www.saybrook.com. They can be reached by telephone at 800-243-0212.  This was my fifth year visiting this inn between Christmas and New Years.  The biggest surprize was the weather!  Last year we were in freezing temperatures with ice forming in the marina.  This year the temperature was 60 degrees.  Every year, I swim in the outdoor pool as it is heated with lots of steam rising from the pool.  This year I swam outside in the 60 degree weather with no steam but the pool was heated.  This was almost like summer!

The hotel was beautifully appointed for the holidays.  The interior of the hotel was magical.  Room 346 was ready and waiting for us.  We used the fireplace on our second night as the weather finally got colder.  You will find the service and the staff to be excellent at this hotel.

Fresh Salt Restaurant

Fresh Salt Restaurant serves Breakfast, Lunch, Light Snacks and Dinner.  They even have a Sunday Brunch.  The bar area is a great meeting spot and the bar  area serves all meals as well as drinks.  Children enjoy spotting the exotic fish in the fish tank located in the dining room.  There is a main dining room has a warm fireplace.  This restaurant has wonderful views of the marina and the river.  At night the fountains spray colored water which  makes a pretty sight.  During the daylight hours the river is very scenic.

And then there is the food….  In two days my husband consumed three plates of the Fresh Salt Plateau.  Our wonderful waitress for the second year Nancy met all our expectations.  Our first day we arrived between lunch and dinner and we started with cocktails, light bites, a bottle of wine.  We picked our foods from three different menus over 3 hours.  The second evening we booked dinner and enjoyed a full meal.  This year for breakfast a “Red Flannel Hash” was added to the menu.  This was poached eggs, with beets, potato, cornbeef, scallions, and bacon hash served in a skillet.
