The Haven Observation Lounge is on Deck 18 and Deck 17 at the most forward section of the Haven. There is an entrance on both decks to the Observation Lounge. The color decor in this area is earth and sea tones from the wood, to the fabrics, to the lighting and the entire room is built for sheer comfort and relaxation. The Haven Observation Lounge is designed for viewing comfort with large forward and side facing floor to ceiling windows; lots of sitting areas designed for conversation groupings, lounge chairs for reading or sleeping, with plenty of side tables and coffee tables to hold cocktails, snacks, coffee or tea; Haven service attendants are always available should you desire anything; there is also a self service area. This Haven Observation Lounge is one of the most important new features on the Bliss and is perfect for any cruise but will be an exceptional place to view glaciers, wildlife and the rest of Alaska. It is warm and comfortable. One can’t help but feel this area was designed for Alaska Cruising.
Deck 18 Haven Observation Lounge
Enter this area through a wide corridor into the Observation Lounge. There are comfortable swivel chairs for viewing or reading near the railing overlooking Deck 17 Observation Lounge. The natural light is wonderful here due to the large floor to ceiling windows. Look on the back wall and you will find a Haven Library with comfortale couches, tables, and lots of art work on the walls. You can find a comfortable area to set up your lap top here (in case you needed to do some work). Spend some time looking over the railing for an overview of the Haven Observation Lounge on Deck 17 before you take the sprial staircase down to Deck 17.
Deck 17 Haven Observation Lounge
As you walk into the Haven Observation Lounge from the Haven Courtyard on Deck 17 there is a sink hand washing station on the right. There is a self service station to the left which has the famous M & M and gummy bears in a container. This station is similar to the self service station in the pool area on other NCL Havens. You will find the snack changing by the time of day from morning to afternoon snacks. Sailing out of the United Kingdom scones were available along with Brittish teas, small little sandwiches, breads, fruits, cookies, etc. There is also an expresso, latte and hot water machine on this station. The spiral staircase from Deck 18 is located here. If you walk straight ahead to the windows on the left you will find some couches arranged in a group with tables and is perfect if you would like to have a drink and some conversation. This section proved to be a great place to sail out of port and provided wonderful views of the harbor. Towards the front are individual lounge style couches with end tables and a lamp with lots of natural lighting. With the sea gently rocking you plan on falling asleep it is so comfortable. This area became every passengers place for a cat nap! Oh there are lots of pillows located on all the couches.
Haven Observation Lounge Services
Haven Service Attendants are walking around and will be more than happy to get a drink from the Haven Lounge weather it’s a cocktail, sparkling water, beer, whatever drinks the bar has they will be more than happy to get for you. You can even take a bottle of chilled champagne from your villa and they will get you glasses and open the bottle and serve it to you. They also have a Haven Restaurant snack menu and will bring you food from the menu should you desire it. One time we asked for shrimp cocktail and got it served in the Haven Observation Lounge. They are very very pleased to get you whatever you desire.
Captain’s Haven Cocktail Party
The Captain’s Haven Cocktail Party was held in the Haven Observation Lounge and was a very elegant party. Servers provided champange or your choice of cocktail. After meeting the staff everyone mingled together and a good time was had by all. This is an event you shouldn’t miss.
