Keswick Hall

Keswick Hall is located at 701 Club Drive in Keswick, Virginia  22947.  The Telephone Number is 434-979-3440.  The website is www.keswick.com.

This property is set on 600 acres in horse and wine country, has three swimming pools (one of which is adult only infinity edge pool, a fitness center, a golf course, tennis courts, spa, biking (with bikes provided), hiking, running course, bird watching, and even has house and garden tours.

A little over a year ago I stumbled into Keswick Hall starved and looking for lunch.  I was directed to Villa Crawford for that lunch.  My meal hit the spot, and after I finished lunch I looked around.  I  knew, I was coming back to stay as a guest.  Keswick Hall was everything I was looking for my blog Tripping in Style.  This property was included in my Virginia Wine Country road trip.

During our Virginia Wine Country road trip two nights were booked at Keswick Hall.  As we pulled up to the front door our bags were taken from us and we entered the lobby.  The lobby was a beautiful living room with comfortable furniture set in grouping for rest, reading, relaxing and conversations.  The coffee tables even had books for you to look at.  We sat in comfortable chairs and checked in for our two night visit.  The desk staff was very gracious and attended to our every need and answered all our questions.  Afternoon tea had been set out with cookies so we had a little snack while we were checking in.  The gentleman who took our bags met us and carried water bottles as well as the luggage, just in case we were thirsty, and he showed us our rooms.  Our   two night stay in heaven had begun.

Lodging

This property has 48 rooms and suites from Superior, Deluxe, Balcony rooms, One-Bedroom Suite to Master Suites.  Rooms have flat screen TV’s, plush bath robes, over sized soaking tubs, comfortable beds, Wi Fi, coffee station and much more.  Packages for golf, wine, breakfast and spa services are available.

Upon check-in we learned our Superior rooms had been upgraded to Balcony rooms.  One of our rooms was on the ground floor with a huge patio with tables, chairs, lounge chairs, and wrapped around the corner.  The other room was one floor up and the balcony patio had a table, chairs, umbrella, and a fantastic view!  Both rooms had everything we could desire or ask for from luxury bathrooms with heated towel racks, to comfortable king beds, with doors from floor to ceiling opening up onto the balcony.  At sunrise you can lay in bed and listen to the birds sing.  The rooms were very clean and the service was exceptional.

Dining

We booked a Bed and Breakfast Package and breakfast both mornings was served in Fossetts.  Fossetts is open for breakfast from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

We were met at the front door to Fossetts and shown to our table beside the floor to ceiling windows.  The table was set in white linens and was ready with water glasses, coffee cups, and of course white table napkins.  We were offered coffee, tea, and juices.  You name the juice and they had it.  The menu offerred fresh eggs any way from eggs benidict to over easy eggs, griddle cakes, fresh fruit, French toast, omlets, oatmeal, ham, bacon, sausage, potato, toasts, muffins, breads,  and grits.  If you can think you might want it, you’ll find they have it.

Fossetts also serves dinner on Wednesday to Sunday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.  Jacket is required for gentlemen.  The menu is extensive and the wine list is exceptional.

Villa Crawford

Villa Crawford is the place for comfort food and relaxing.  They serve a buffet menu that changes daily on Monday to Friday from Noon to 2:00 PM.  The lunch and dinner menu is available from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily.  Seating is individual tables in the dining room, or tables in the bar, at the bar, or outside seating on the patio.  Regardless of where you choose to eat or drink you will be very comfortable and have a great view of the golf course or the infinity pool.  The menu has shared plates of charcuterie, mussells, oysters, and cheeses.  Garden plates offer Caesar salad, classic salad, or soups.  Large plates offer trout, 12 ounce steaks, or crab cakes.  Classic plates offer Cobb salad, a tripple club, and of course burgers.

We had been touring off property most of the day so we were only looking for a lite dinner of cocktails, soup, and salads which were perfect to end our day.  On my previous visit for  lunch, the year before, we ate a full meal of shared plates, salad, soup and entree.  The food is excellent.

Villa Crawford Bar

Villa Crawford Bar serves cocktails and snacks inside at the bar or outside on the patio.

Golf Grill

The Golf Grill is open for lunch Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.  The pool bar is open with a bar menu from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday to Saturday.  Sunday Brunch is served from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Golf Grill is a short walk down the path to the Club House.  Just follow the path.  The Golf Grill serves cocktails, spirits, lite bites, flat breads, salads, burgers, club house chicken, ribeye, trout, salmon, crab cakes and a market fair fish of the day.

This restaurant has dark woods and is very masculine but I loved it.  I chose the club house chicken and I can’t even describe how good it tasted.

Activities

For two days I got into the salt water infinity pool and didn’t want to come out of it.  The pool temperature was 87 degrees with the outside air around 70 degrees.  I swam back and forth a number of times and then hung out looking over the golf course.  I exited a prune.  Spring had just sprung and the entire grounds were beautiful.  I’m sure it is just as pretty during all seasons but the first week of Spring was the best!

During our two day stay we saw about 3 different wedding parties.  Those groups were relaxing at the pool and we saw them again dressed and heading downstairs?   I think their events were being held there.  I can just imagine the pictures the brides and grooms got from the property from the grand staircase to the gardens.

With all the activities Keswick Hall has to offer, I can’t beleive, I only used the salt water pool!   This property has something for everyone.  Hunt groups, tennis groups, golfers, birders, etc.  all stay here.  Even romatics stay here.  Everything is private and is truly Tripping in Style.

PS.  They also offer a Kids Club.
