Park Guell
Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to build Park Guell. This is a wonderful walking park with lots of mosaics and themed with a dragon. The colors are brilliant. At one time Gaudi lived at the top of the hill in a small house on the property. There is a terrace which is built in the middle of the park with great views of the city. The main entrance is at the bottom of the park and it is up a hill with lots of stairs to climb in order to view the park. On good days street vendors have set up stalls near the top of the park selling their wares and trinkets.
Park Guell can be reached via Metro with a 20 minute walk to the entrance which is all up hill. The Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus is a few city blocks and an up hill walk as well. You might want to take a taxi or a guided tour which takes you to the upper entrance to visit this park.
Admissions can be purchased ahead of time via the internet or directly from the gate house at the lower entrance. Addmission is 8.00 Euros with discounts available for children, senior, and disabled. The park is open from 8:00 AM with closing times between 18:30 and 21:30 depending on the time of the year.
