During the evening you will sail towards Linz, Austria at Km 2135. A few miles from Linz you will pass by Mauthausen, KZ (Concentration Camp) in the dark. Nothing will be mentioned about it,.
The power station at Ybbs-Persenberg raises the water level slowing the river flow as we pass through pretty towns like Gein, St. Nikola, Sarmingstein and Struchen. Upon arrival in Linz some passengers will disembark for the Salzburg, Austria tour. This stop is less than a half hour. If you stay on the ship this is a day of rest sailing along the Danube River towards Passau, Germany at Km 2226. Have a slow relaxing breakfast and maybe sit on your balcony and just enjoy the river and small towns, have lunch on the lower deck with a beer or bottle of wine. Follow the bike path and walking trails beside the river between villages.
If you sit on the upper deck the Wheel House and the front portion will be closed because some of the bridges are so low. I’m not sure when you leave Austria and enter Germany but at one of the locks just before Passau, Germany the school children were lined up on top of the bridge and the Ama Viola Staff tossed them bon bons. It seems to be an event whenever the ship passes through.
